Long time no write, right?!! Your Mistress of Distress has been a very busy girl in her daytime persona as Marketing/PR Associate for @Large Films. OK, and I have just been a lazy bugger, I admit it...Anyway, I am back to Mindsay and my ramblings about all things cult movie-ish. Did you miss me? I know you did!

I have some new reviews that I will be posting on The Video Vixen.

I have added some links to the site, but am looking for suggestions! Please send me any sites that pertain to cult flicks, whether they be online stores, blogs, review sites, fan pages, etc. Make sure you actually LOOK at the site first to see if it's something that I would consider adding as a link.

My desk is piled high with movies I need to review, amongst the reviews I've written that I haven't posted to the site yet. There is one movie in particular I am anxious to watch. It's called Chuckle's Revenge, and it was sent to me to review on my site as a special supplement. It is not a cult classic, but I think it will be! The box art is pretty scary.

Strangest movie I have watched lately: Salon Kitty. The movie that started the Nazi fetish movement in films! Lots of nudity of the yin and yang sort...and all around general weirdness. Directed by the dude who helmed Caligula, so you know what to expect. Tinto Brass is his name and crazy nudity is his game!
Wonder what dinner with Brass and Russ Meyer would be like...

OK, that's all for now, but expect me to start writing again on a regularly irregular basis!

Ciao dahlinks!

Animation is an art form, and these movies take it to a whole 'nother level when it comes to providing the frights...see 'em and weep!

Perfect Blue (1997)- I'd call this one an animated slasher/psychological horror flick. Mima isn't content with her life as a pop idol and her fans aren't content with her career move to acting. One admirer in particular feels especially betrayed and the results are not pretty.

Karas: The Prophecy (2005)- OK, I don't know...WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS MOVIE?
It's got some great scary imagery, but I have no clue. Watch it and explain the shit to me, PLEASE. I've watched it 3 times already. And I was sober.

Vampire Hunter D (1985)- A futuristic vampire story filled with amazing characters, based on a popular series of novels. Why this hasn't been made into a television series is beyond me. Also check out Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

The Imma Youjo Series (1994-1997)- FOR ADULTS ONLY. This is an animated sexual horror series that is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. I actually own this collection and in 5 years have only made it through the first three movies. People who enjoy hentai may like this, but this is beyond being explicit. To say more would be be saying too much!

Your Mistress of Distress is always looking for new horror to peruse, so if you know any good horror anime that I should check out, let me know!

The Return of Uncle Frank- Shocking Moments in Horror Films, Part 2
Your Mistress of Distress is baa-aack with more gore galore, sharing with you more shocking horror film moments that I LOVE.

Hellraiser (1987)- The reanimation of Uncle Frank is one of the nastiest scenes I have ever had the pleasure to witness in a horror film. True cinemagic!

Friday the 13th (1980)- "Then he's still there..." OMFG, I nearly pee my panties every time I see this scene. You think it's over and then KABOOM, heart attack time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A79dt6qaIMw

Trilogy of Terror (1975)- For those of you who think Chucky is scary, I say BULLSHIT. Meet the African Zuni Doll from Trilogy of Terror. Believe it or not, this was a made for TV movie! The brilliant Dan Curtis directed some of the scariest stuff to ever be seen on the small screen, and I think this is his best.
The final scene of Amelia waiting for her mother to come over will curdle your blood.

Carrie (1976)- There are some great scenes in this film, but for me, the one that shocked me when I first saw it was when Carrie got a special delivery from Mother Nature. PLUG IT UP, PLUG IT UP!

Ain't it cool?
